History, resale and transfer

A well-kept thing whose story is known sells better. Cegeta keeps that story with the thing, shows it to a buyer when you decide, and passes it on when you transfer the item — without ever saying who owned it before.

The public passport

On the public page of a public item, three things tell its past:

  • the history events you choose to show there — Show on the public page, on the History screen: the kind and the year of the event, nothing else;
  • the number of successive owners — a number, never a name;
  • if you open them: under warranty and maintenance up to date (Warranties and maintenance).

Resale links

For a specific buyer, a resale link shows more: Resale links › Create a link, ticking the extras to show — last counter reading, warranty end dates, maintenance done, acquisition date — and the documents to show.

The link lasts 72 hours, is shown only once (copy it), and every opening is counted. Revoke closes it early.

Transferring an item

Transferring an item

On the item's record, Transfer:

  1. Generate a transfer code: valid for 72 hours, once, shown only once (write it down, or have its QR scanned). Generating a new one cancels the previous one. Extend by 72 hours or Cancel the transfer as long as the buyer has not accepted.
  2. Attach the documents to pass on, one by one: a document not attached stays with you.
  3. The buyer opens Receive an item, enters the code (Check the code), sees what they will receive, then Accept the item. Nothing changes until they have accepted.
What goes with the item the record, the QR, unchanged, the cover photo, the history — without the former owner's name —, the planned maintenance (without costs or providers) and the attached documents
What you keep your other photos and the documents not attached, in My former items
What is erased your notes, your readings, your reports, your visibility settings, the location, the values and the critical note; shares and emergency contacts are removed

My former items lists the items your space has transferred, with your period of ownership. The item's history says "ownership transferred", and the owner count goes up by one.

To sell without transferring right away, Put up for sale shows "for sale" on the public page (Items).
