Warranties and maintenance
Cegeta keeps track of your things' due dates for you: the end of a warranty, the next oil change, the 15,000 km service. You are told before, not after. Warranties and maintenance are part of the paid plans (Plans); without them, what exists stays readable, but reminders stop and nothing can be added or changed.
Warranties
On an item's record, the Warranties › Add a warranty block:
- the type: Manufacturer, Retailer, Extension or Insurance;
- the provider (manufacturer, seller or insurer) and the contract reference;
- the start date — by default, the item's purchase date — and the duration in months: the expiry is calculated;
- a linked document, among the item's documents (the invoice, the contract);
- what is covered, a note for yourself.
None of this is public. You are told 60, 30 and 7 days before expiry. A warranty without a start date or a duration has an unknown expiry — and cannot remind you of anything.
Warranties, in the menu, lists all your warranties, sorted by expiry, filterable by type and by expiry: Active, Within 90 days, Expired, Expiry unknown.
On the public page, you can open a single piece of information: under warranty: yes / no — never the date, the provider or the number (What people who scan see).
Maintenance
On an item's record, the Maintenance › Add maintenance block creates a plan:
- a name ("Oil change"), never public;
- a schedule: By date (every N months), By usage (every N km, hours or cycles), or Whichever comes first;
- when it was last done — leave it empty, and the first due date starts from today.
You are told 30 and 7 days before, then once if the maintenance is overdue. For a schedule by usage, Cegeta needs your counter readings: Readings › Record the reading. They stay private — a mileage says how you travel.
- Mark as done: the date done, the day's counter reading, the cost, the provider, a note and the invoice. The next due date starts from the actual date, not the planned one. The item's history records "maintenance done".
- Skip a due date: nothing is recorded as done, the next one starts from this one.
- One-off task: once, on a date; once done, it does not come back.
Maintenance, in the menu, gathers the maintenance of all your items: Due, Due soon, Overdue, Planned, Done. The dashboard counts the maintenance due.
On the public page, a single piece of information, which you open yourself: maintenance up to date / overdue — no date, no name, no mileage, no garage.
