QR codes and stickers

Each item has its own QR. The code says nothing about you or the thing: it is an opaque string that leads to the item's public page. Whoever scans it never reaches your account.

An item's QR

On an item's record, the QR code block shows its code. Open full size shows it alone, to print it or have it scanned. Stick it where it shows without getting in the way: under a saddle, inside a suitcase, on a tag.

Two actions destroy the label already stuck on — read the confirmation window, it says the consequence:

• Replace the code: a new code is drawn. The sticker already in place stops working — whoever scans it learns that the code was replaced — and you need to print and stick the new one. The history records "label replaced".
• Deactivate the code: the sticker stops working, and no code replaces it. It is irreversible.

Sticker sheets

Stickers prepares sheets of QR codes ready to print — at home, or at the printer of your choice.

1. Order my stickers: the template (its shape — square, rounded, round — and its format), the number of stickers, the width and height (from 15 to 150 mm), the medium (A4 sheet, A3 sheet or roll), what goes under the QR (a reference number, a short label of at most 20 characters, or nothing) and the Cegeta logo in the centre. A preview shows the first page.
2. Generate the sheet: generation runs in the background, and every QR is re-read before the sheet is served.
3. Download the PDF (or the SVG of the first page). The file stays available for 30 days; the sheet itself remains reprintable afterwards (Reprint (same stickers)).
4. The correspondence gives, for each sticker, its position (page, row, column) and the item that carries it; it can be exported as CSV.

⚠️ The short label will be stuck on your things, visible to everyone, for years. No name, no address: a reference number is enough.

The number of sheets per month depends on your plan (Plans).

Linking a sticker

A sticker from a sheet does not belong to any item yet. Scan it: the "Label not linked yet" page offers I have this sticker: link it. Choose the item that will carry it — Link — or Create a new item with this sticker. Linked to an item that already had a label, the sticker replaces the old one.
